I haven’t stayed at this campground, but I did drive through. Part of the campground is in the trees while the other is in an open meadow. Because it’s the first campground in the Peter Lougheed park it does tend to fill up quickly. |

We’ve camped here twice before. It’s not the closest campground to calgary but it is truely amazing. The campground is well maintained, and if you enjoy the mountain there is ample to keep you busy. In the summer months you can even spend time in Lower Kananaskis Lake, but it’s not warm. For the mountain bikers, the Whiskey Jack trail is incredibly fun. It’s about a 45 minute climb and then a thrilling descent into the Pocaterra parking lot. For the truely fit, you can continue the climb to the fire lookout station for amazing views of the valley. Very much worth the extra effort. |

This is one of our favorite campgrounds and we usually go here a few times each year because it’s so close to calgary. There is so much to do in the area whether it’s golfing, hiking or just relaxing by the river after an easy walk you should have no problem spending the weekend or a week here. The facilities are always clean and the staff keep a great campground. |
