A place like no other, Waterton Springs Campground borders Waterton Lakes National Park. Located just outside of the park gates you get the best of both worlds. Access to the National Park without having to pay the park fees to camp each night.

The perfect place to view spectacular scenery, wildlife and enjoy recreational opportunities.

Facilities include full hookups, fire pits, picnic tables, indoor hot showers and laundry facilities (both token/coin operated – available 24 hours), Wi-Fi Internet (daily, weekly, monthly rates available) and a store.

Located right in Drumheller, this campground is a great location for your family based trip to the badlands. Just across the bridge are the towns splash park and largest dinosaur. You have easy access to all the other badland attractions including the Tyrrell Museum, the worlds smallest church, Horseshoe canyon the list goes on.

There are also 7 cabins and 4 Tee Pees available for rent.

We haven’t camped here yet, but we are confirmed for the end of July 2010. I’ll have a review up then. Until then the only other thing of mention for Drumheller is, Air Conditioning is not a bad thing!

Drumheller’s largest campground, HooDoo RV Resort and Campground, is located just a few minutes east of the town of Drumheller. This campground is relatively new and is a large grassed field with newly planted trees. This allows for unlimited tent campsites and a nice big open field for game.

Take a look at their pictures. They do give a great overview of what you’ll get at this campground.

We camped here on the campgrounds opening year. There were a few issues with the new facilities but overall that was good. As for the campground it was a wide open field with little to no privacy, which is ok if you don’t mind that. We are used to camping in the mountains and foothills so have become used to the trees and the privacy that comes with that.

As for location, even though you are not right in Drumheller you have easy access to everything the valley has to offer with only a few minutes drive.

Taber Municipal Park is located along the beautiful Oldman River valley just North of Taber. The park is open to campers 12 months of the year; it offers campsites for 60 vehicle campers, five tenting sites, two group use areas and excellent day use areas.

94 large, electrified camp sites, double occupancy allowed, 2 group campsites (reservations accepted for group areas only), picnic table and fire pit at each camp site, beach and sheltered swimming area, excellent boat launch and marina, day use areas complete with picnic tables and fire pits, modern playground equipment, friendly, knowledgeable staff, potable water on site, washrooms and trailer dump station, washroom, showers, laundry facility located only 20 kms south of Brooks on Highway 873 watch for the campground signs.

This tree-lined park is a welcome relief on blistering hot prairie days; many well-treed sites provide privacy. An interpretive trail provides visitors with the opportunity to view the area’s abundant bird species. Kinbrook is an excellent location from which to base day trips to Dinosaur Provincial Park, which is only 45 minutes away by car.

Dinosaur Provincal Campground

Some of the most extensive dinosaur fossil fields in the world are found here; the area’s badlands and cottonwood river habitat are the other significant features that resulted in the park’s designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979; you won’t want to miss a visit to the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology Field Station, located in the park.

Driving through the prairies you would never expect to see the landscape change so drastically. Dinosaur Provincal Park is AMAZING! There are lots of hiking trails though out the area as well as informational sites. When we were here it was incredibly hot (30C) and not a lot of shade. Well worth seeing, but it is off the beaten path.
